What?

Sometimes when one's been gone for so long it's hard to figure out how what to say and how to start. So I'll just talk. It's been a little over 3 months since I've updated this blog. If we're being honest this past year I haven't been very present over here at ManicureAddict.com. Even with all that in play I've still been around and active in other social media spots. I hope that has been enough for those of you who used to stop by everyday. I didn't really have anything to say but I figured I'd break my 3 month posting silence and say that I'm still around and that I'm stunned to see that even without any constant posting there's still people stopping by. So Thanks to those who stop by from time to time. I also was sad that I totally missed my 3rd blog anniversary. I feel like such a bad blog parent!! I haven't totally decided to stop blogging, I know it may seem like that but I do have plans to one day pick it back up. But I'll be honest with you guys it probably won't be till after I finally get to move into the house. The Hubs and me have been renovating for what seems like years... haha well 2 years in February. Still no clue when that's happening as I pretty much forced Dave to take on remodeling two bathrooms.

So if you've been following me on instagram you maybe aware that I decided to purge my massive collection and I'm in the process of putting up a giant amount of polishes for sale. After completely filling up 5 helmers full of polish and needing to go buy a 6th one I decided that instead of going to buy yet another helmer I was going to dramatically decrease my collection and in the process make back some money so that I can pay down some of the debt I've obtained while fixing up the house. I think it hit me when I realized I rather have a kickass bathroom than helmers full of polish I won't' ever use up. So far I've pinned close to 920 polishes which is pretty much 2 full helmers. I still have a little more than one helmer to go through and post before I open the flood gates and start sending the polishes to new homes. Sometimes it's good to let go and open up yourself to new beginnings and the idea of cutting down the collection to 2 helmers while it seemed scary at first it feels good to know that when I do move into the new house my collection won't be hard to move. Plus after using Pinterest to pin all the polishes I have for sale I can't wait to be able to pin my actual collection and for once keep track of the polishes I do own. I have to admit though pinning polishes has been so difficult because after looking up swatches of polishes I have for sale I keep wanting to keep them, you know mentally buy them back. But my mind is made up and it's just something that has to be done. For so long I used my collection as a safety blanket. I gave it power and used it as a tool to help define myself. Well we all know I'm a super rad person and if I have 5,000 or 500 polishes my cool points are still the same. Okay so when I do finally get finished pinning all the polishes I'll come back over here and post about it and I'll have to write a whole rules and regulations post. haha riddle me this and riddle me that if you can't answer my riddle you can't buy my polishes... okay see I'm starting to ramble and all sense has flown out of the window!!! So I only stopped by today because I'm supposed to be cleaning because I think we have family coming over. yikes!!! I'm thankful for all the wonderful people that have taken the time to read my thoughts and I wish all of you a wonderful Thanksgiving and Happy Holidays!!!

In case any of you are wanting to check my progress on my Pinterest Massive polish purge here's a link. Keep in mind I'm not selling anything just yet :) www.pinterest.com/polishsale

Lumina Lacquer Moon Child

It's no secret how much I love Lumina Lacquer. If you're looking for complex multi shape and color glitter bombs then Lumina Lacquer has got you covered. Lets just say I haven't worn a Lumina Lacquer I didn't love. I layered Moon Child over Etoile Pink Panache and holy moly the combo kept me staring at my nails the whole time!! You can judge how awesome a polish is by the amount of times you find yourself getting lost in it. Lumina's tend to do it for me because i'm constantly finding new shapes and glitters on my nails even though i'm the one who put them there on my nails. No complaints here, only thing I want to say is that with this glitter topcoat some fishing is required but the pay off is spectacular. Plus when you fish for glitters you control the manicure and overall look so you can pull out shapes and glitters you like and place them where ever you want. Be sure to stop by Lumina's Site to see what polishes they have in stock. You won't be disappointed!

Fourth of July Manicure 2013

Here's a look at the quick manicure I did for today. Polishes used are Zoya Purity, Liberty and Chyna. I haven't done a swirl in a while so I just had to pull it out. Not much more to say about this other than it really hit the spot for today's Independence day celebrations! I hope everyone celebrating had a great day. Here in South Carolina it rained pretty much all day and we had flood warnings so I stayed home all day. I did do a quick little instagram video with this manicure here's the link if you haven't seen it already. My song choice was inspired by one of my favorite patriotic movies, Team American World police. I kept my song clean... if you have no idea what I'm talking about look up"Team America World Police Song" and be prepared to laugh.  See you guys tomorrow!

Zoya Summer Sunset Gradient Nail Art

When I got the latest Summer Zoya Pixie Dust collection these four colors just jumped out at me and begged to be put together in one manicure. I usually do not have much luck when it comes to gradient manicures however the textured polishes are super forgiving and made it easy for me to create a gradient effect.  Even though I'm not a warm colored person, yellow and orange are some of my least favorite colors, this manicure was just super hot and I loved it! Here is the order I applied the polishes: Solange, Beatrix, Destiny and Miranda. This was also the last manicure I had before I did a major nail chop... I miss the talons but a change is always good!

Gonna keep it short since I have to go book my flight and hotel for my upcoming trip to Las Vegas!!! I struggled with this but I decided I just had to make it out to the Cosmoprof show this year. With all the house renovations I've been doing it wasn't really an expense I wanted to take on but this girl needs a break and what better way to reward myself than with a little trip to Vegas?? :D

Lumina Lacquer Grape Granita

I know my posts lately have been super sparse. I'm coming to the conclusion that I'm pretty much buried under a pile of photos that need to be edited and my poor camera is out of memory since I have so many pictures on there.  The only way to fix this problem is to start trying to post and slowly dig my way out of this mess i've thrown myself into... I know I know I sound like a broken record.. heheh so in happy news the house has a complete new roof on it!!! I will share pictures soon!! I never knew how heavy a bag of shingles is till this past weekend!!! luckily I did not break my back or any nails!!

So this is combo I put together what seems like ages ago. I layered Grape Granita over a black with a side sweep of Models Own Indian Ocean. I have to say the indian ocean made this manicure just pop for me. I love the glitter but over the indian ocean it just turned into wow. If you've followed me for a while then you know I love Lumina Lacquer, I did not have any problems with this polish , I'm a purple fan and this glitter bomb did not disappoint!

Animal Print Nail Art Tutorial Video: Leopard Spots

So the worst thing about taking a break for so long is I can't remember what all I've posted and what I haven't posted... At least I can look back through the blog and see but it just seems like so much work to actually look through my blog.... haha I know I'm being so bloglazy lately.. :P Here's another tutorial video I did for the Allure contest I was part of... yes I know It's only taken me forever to post this but it's still pretty and worth a look. This was the second time I've ever worn leopard prints and I gotta say these colors just went so well together and even though animal prints aren't for me, I loved it. After a day or so I threw on Zoya Katherine and man it was further transformed!!
Enjoy the Video!

Painted Sabotage Angel Wings

Ever know you should do something but you're too afraid(lazy, tired) to just take the dive to do it? well I have to admit i'm upset at myself for being gone for a full month.  Working on the house has been a lot of work and it's keeping me busy.  I'm sorry that the site is on the back burner for now. But I admit since my break I have been getting to bed before midnight and instead of searching for polish to buy i've been looking at everything from hot water heaters to blinds.... haha not fun! My poor nails are so upset with me they went from getting painted daily , even twice a day to  once a week now. I 'm ashamed to show my face around here I promise to get my act together soon. We almost have everything painted in the house, soon there won't be much left for me to do but pack my junk up and move in but realistically we're 2-3 months away from that.  I  am happy to see a good bit of activity on the site even after being gone for a month so I want to thank you guys for still stopping by. You have no idea how much I miss you guys! My body has been forcing me to take this break but I don't think it will be for much longer, I've got a few more loose ends to tie up in the house so I will slowly be getting my tips wet again and I thank you guys for being so understanding!

The polish... being that I wore this what seems like months ago my memory is not the best... however This is one that's not easily forgotten. It's a little on the sheer side and at first impression I didn't think I would like it but once I built it up 4-5 coats I had no idea it would look so good! Since I wore this Painted Sabotage has changed the formula so that it's not as sheer. (love it when a brand listens to suggestions!!) So it will be more opaque and take less coats!  I 'm a sucker for iridescent glitter, mix that with a light purple oh man that's the sweet spot!! Every Painted Sabotage polish I've worn has been amazing if you haven't checked out the brand yet , you're missing out!

Yell at me if I a week passes and I haven't reappeared :)!!!

Quick Update....Painting a little more than just my nails

I just wanted to check in with those of you who are wondering what's going on with me. I'm still here, Just taking a little mini break. As many of you know I've been slowly working on fixing up a house with my Husband. We are now at the point where we are able to paint so my weekends and any time after work has been spent going over there and painting. I'm exhausted to say the least and my neck feels like it can't support my head anymore from painting miles and miles of crown molding. When we bought the house we ripped out all of the baseboards, doors and frames, trim, molding...  It was all globbed up with years of paint and not worth saving. So I've had the pleasure of painting all of the new trim. I will be happy when it's all done, I was sick of filling nail holes with wood putting and sanding. I felt like I did that for years so while the painting is going on forever it's great to see all my hard work prepping paid off because this trim looks amazing with some fresh paint on it. I haven't had much energy and time for the blog but once things calm down and the house gets covered in Fresh paint I will gladly trade paint buckets for bottles of Nail Polish.

Tonight I finished putting on the second coat of paint on all the crown molding so that means we can paint the ceilings in all the rooms. After the ceiling is done Walls are getting painted!! I have to say for someone who is so into Colors like me, picking colors for the walls has been stressful so far we finally picked a color of the kitchen (haha got lucky on that we decided grey was the way to go and we went to lowes and happened to see their oops paint and found a 5 gallon bucket of a grey and it was only 35 bucks... I could not pass that up and the color is amazing. I was thinking darker grey husband was thinking lighter and this just happened to be right in the middle and we got a deal and we don't' have to fight over colors!!! hah hooray!) and adjacent room and our bed room but I still have no clue what we are doing for the hallway and living room and the entrance. I've also been spending a lot of time looking at wallpapers for the entrance room.... It's bad I now want to Wallpaper everything... Okay Clearly I'm very tired and I'm Rambling. I just wanted to check in and let you guys know what's going on with me. I'm very happy about painting even though it's a lot of work because it means we're so much closer to moving in. There's still a list of things that have to get done but at least I can start seeing the progress and actually help out! Refinishing the floors is next well we still have to put down the baseboards so I'll temporary have to go back to filling nail holes and sanding but I'm very happy to put in this extra work .... okay passing out I'll try to throw up a post soon... I Miss you Guys!! Wish me Luck on finding the strength to pick colors... I'm thinking I should just pick favorite polishes and have them color match them at this point!!

Polish Addict Black Tie Parade

Today I've got a look at Black Tie Event by Polish Addict. It's a multi-colored glitter in a black gel base. I had to layer several coats to get it to this opaque look. You could layer it over a black and only use 1-2 coats but then you won't have the depth from all the layers of glitter. This polish is so fun and festive and there wasn't anything I did not like about it.

Here is a link to the Polish Addict Store:
