Ms. LuLu and the Puppy Uglies

It's time for a Lulu Update!! So in a few days Lulu will be 16 weeks old and after the very rough start we had with her being sick and almost losing her, she's truly our little miracle pup! She's turned into a great shop dog and loves to greet anyone and everything that might venture into the shop. She's got several frequent visitors like the UPS driver and the Mail lady who always ask for her when they come. She's just a super ball of energy, like always!

 So the main reason for the post.... Ms. Lulu has ventured into the Puppy Uglies! Now for those of you who have no idea what the heck I'm talking about take a look at some of her more recent pictures! Pomeranian puppies go through this stage where their pup fur slowly falls out and the adult undercoat starts to come in. Now basically what that means is that the pup will look a bit scraggly and goofy looking. So no longer is she the big giant puff of fluff that she once was since most of the fluff has fallen out. But it won't be too much longer until she'll have her beautiful fluffy adult coat come in. Another interesting thing is that when I got her she was pretty much just a nice cream color now as she's growing the fur is starting to change colors and it's getting darker!! I knew that was possible but i figured no way will there be a dramatic change, but within a few days her undercoat started to came in and it was much darker than it was before! So enjoy some of the goofy pics of Lulu in her awkward "ugly" stage!

French Manicure

Something that I really like is a simple French Manicure, however can you believe that this is the first time I've done one since I've started my Blog! The main reason this is the first time is because with natural long nails a french manicure does not look good. I have rather short nail beds and with the long nails you can't hide your free edge and put the white tips lower than where you're natural edge actually is. So for me doing a french manicure on the longo nails would just make them look bottom heavy so to speak. On fake nails well you can create the white tip where ever you want so it's easier to pull off. Okay enough with the ramble. This was actually rather tough to do. Funny how I've pulled off some crazy nail art in the past yet a simple white smile line on the nail was tough! I just used the Orly French manicure polish which in the bottle has like a pinkish tint but on the nail it becomes this perfect white. I covered it with a clear coat of some sparkle OPI polish I had, I don't remember the name of it. I once had someone figure it out but I never wrote it down so here I am clueless again to what the name is. The French Maniucre... So simple and classic yet a pain in the butt to get it perfect looking!

 

Kermit the Frog Nail Art

I was getting ready to take off the green when I decided I'd challenge myself and do some nail art. Now it's been a while since I've done some and well with the longer nails it's sooo much easier. I have to say that while this is not the best nail art I've done I am happy with it. I don't feel like I did Kermit the Frog much justice by putting him on these nubbins. I feel like on the longer nails I would have had better results since there's more room to spread out. Looking forward to doing some more nubbin nail art in the future. 

Orly Mineral FX Collection

So in an attempt to get caught up I'm trying to get rid of some older swatches I've had on my computer. I feel bad since I've got such a mix of long to short nails now and I know it's starting to confuse people especially when I'm posting swatches that are months old. Perfect example is this post , these are from September. So I was so excited about this collection when I saw it at Cosmo Prof that when it came out I bought the whole thing at full price.... ouch... even worse was seeing these on sale at sallys a few months later... double ouch... So lesson learned. Why did it take me sooo long to post these... well I took too many pictures and what I did have I felt wasn't my best work but since I did do the work I'll post anyways.  I'm not gonna go in detail on each polish since that'd be too much work for today... hah I will let you know my two favorites in this collection were Rock Solid and Emberstone.

Orly Fresh.... NUBBINS!!!!

Last time I did a big nail chop was 2 months ago and while I did do a major chop I left a nice bit of free edge. Fast forward 2 months and my nails were pretty much long again. Since they grow so quickly and we got the new house, which means I'll be participating in some remodeling work I decided I needed another chop. The longer nails do not get in the way and in fact we've already taken out the whole kitchen over the weekend and I had no issues or breaks. I just didn't want to have to worry about dealing with any breaks mid project.  I was sitting around yesterday watching tv and figured hey why not. So I cut and filed them down to the bone, well almost. It is so odd to look at the palms of my hands and not see any nails just finger tips! So It has been years since they've been this short, even before the days of the longer nails I always had some free edge. I was curious to see how they looked  super short and well they're sooo tiny!! my pinky is just a touch wider than a tic tac.

okay about the color.... This is a two coater, and it dries matte. I threw on a top coat and this baby just sings! So I think this is the perfect skittles green color.  This color makes me happy and it totally makes my nubbins feel fresh!

Glitter Gal's Black Holo

So sometimes when you take a break and it ends up being longer than you planned it can be hard to get back in the groove of things. Sadly that is what happened. However It was a much needed break... The most exciting news is that The hubs and I are finally Home Owners! We haven't moved in yet and it will be a little bit before that happens since we have a few plans to fix up a few things before we officially move in. Things on the list... painting, redoing the heating and air/replacing the ductwork (hubs used to do heating and air so won't be as costly, a whole kitchen remodel... ( I've already bought all my appliances... was not as exciting as buying polish but I did really well!) So lots of hard work is ahead but it will be fun.....

So Here's a look at a Polish I wore what seems like months ago. Black Holo was not as exciting as I expected it to be. In fact the holo effect was rather muted. Would I buy this one again? Nope... 

Zoya Opal

This is the last of the Zoya Fleck Effects. The flakies in this one is very similar to Zoya Maisie, in that the color shift is the same green to blue.  It's pretty but for me it was my least favorite out of the three polishes in the collection. I wish the flakie effect was somewhat different between Opal and Maisie but it's not so there's really no need to get both unless you like to look at pretty bottles of polish, which I totally do! I can't say I'm one who could turn down a flakie so even though it's my least favorite I still love her in a special way : ) !!
