More Volunteer Manicures

Tonight I went over to my local Women's Shelter and was there for about four hours. I met a lot of lovely ladies tonight and had the pleasure of doing manicure for six of them. I'm a little tired but I'm very happy I was able to brighten up these ladies evenings. One of the Ladies is going to three job interviews tomorrow and she thanked me for giving her the extra confidence. Just hearing little things like that makes this all worth while. I look forward to doing more manicures for these ladies.

Today I also filled out a volunteer application for my local hospital. I really have my fingers crossed, hoping I can go spread some cheer there. My younger brother had Cancer when he was in his teens (he's fine now in remission)  and at first I thought it might be too difficult to go volunteer at a children's oncology center but I've gotten over it. The other day I happened to come across the instagram of a younger teen who recently passed away after a hard battle with cancer, it really pulled at my heart strings seeing her life through her instagram pictures. There were even some nail pictures and of polish. I did not know her or her whole story but she made me realize it was important for me to volunteer more of my time. Please send some good vibes my way so all this works out!!

Back to tonight, Flowers were super popular!!  Before I came I got my order of Pretty Serious Polishes and I had them in my purse and after talking with one lady she told me her favorite color was blue so i just had to pull out BSOD, it's so pretty she couldn't resist it. I really enjoyed telling them the stories behind some of the polishes. I mean how cool is it that this one lady was super excited that the polish on her nails came from Australia!! Overall I had a blast. It was fun talking polish with these ladies and sharing my passion with them.

Here's a link to my first post about Volunteering at the Women's Shelter:

  1. So many pretty manis. I particularly like the interlocking dotticure and the blue one with flowers.

You are doing amazing work. I don't think I could bring myself to work wit ill children. I think my heart would break from seeing little innocents suffering and I admire people who are not as weak as I am and who go and brighten their lives.

  2. I loved reading about your experience doing volunteer work. Keep us updated about the hospital application. I did a lot more volunteer work when I was in high school, but now that I'm older, not so much. It's a shame because I really feel like I've been fortunate in my life.

  4. I will! It just sorta hit me one night how Nail Polish has brought me so much joy I wanted to share that joy and I figured I've got a knack for nail art so I knew I could make a few people happy. Volunteering is more enjoyable when it's something you enjoy, maybe you'll find something down the line that will pull you in. :)

  6. I forgot to mention that the Lady with the Blue manicure, that was her first Manicure. She's mid 40s and never had one before. Glad I was able to spoil her just a little!
When my brother was going through his cancer treatments it was tough to see all the other children who were in the same boat and even worse hearing about the ones who weren't so lucky with their treatments. Very sad but that's life. I'm really hoping this works out. I'd love to come in and put some smiles on some faces and help them forget about about all the bad happening around them even if it is temporary.

  8. Do it, You'll enjoy it!! Take some business cards with you!! A lot of them are in the process of getting jobs, so huge booster upper for them! Several asked me how much I charge cause they'd want me to paint their nails again. Would be a good way for you to do some good and then have potential future clients. hah i kept having to tell them I don't really do nails it's just a hobby for me.

  10. For sure - I've always been into volunteering in general and consider it general good business. I already donate 'gift certificates' to a few auction fundraisers here in town. So another way to seriously give back makes me happy!
