OPI Skyfall Collection

Today I've got a look at the whole OPI Skyfall Collection. This is OPI's 2012 Holiday Collection and it does not disappoint! Each Polish is named after a James Bond Movie and it really makes this whole collection super playful. There is a lot of danger and seduction written all over these bottles!!

My top three picks:  You only live twice, Casino Royal and Golden Eye
My bottom three: On her Majesty's Secret Service, The world is not enough, and Tomorrow never dies

Swatches after the Jump!
Don't forget you can click on the pictures to see them even BIGGER!!
Skyfall is a dark brick red creme. It's super opaque and only requires one coat. It dries to a much darker shade once you get it on the nail. In the bottle the color wasn't very appealing to me but once on the nail it dries to a lovely rich maroon color that's hard not to like. It's reddish but in it leans towards brown. In fact it reminded me a bit of what melted chocolate looks like.
OPI really knows how to make a perfect creme polish. This Dark Plum Purple really hit the spot for me. I love the formula on this and it's a 1 coater. Love! I also love how it's a dark color but it's not so dark that it looks black. It maybe a very basic creme color but for me it was magical. This polish also dries a little darker than what it is in the bottle.
You Only Live Twice is a fantastic berry color. I have to quote what OPI says about this one because I agree with it 100%. "This rich high-shimmer magenta is a once-in-a-lifetime find" . This is the first color I put on when the polishes arrived and I honestly don't know why out of all these beautys this one grabbed me the way it did since in the bottle it's not that exciting. I put it on and I had this instant love connection, the color really mesmerized me. It's really a gem and believe when I say it looks so much better in person,  no picture can capture how it sparkles once on the nails.
The spy who loved me is a very hot tamale shade of red! It's full of golden flecks throughout and yes they translate onto the nail but once on the nail the flecks end up looking more like a light shimmer. Meaning you'd have to look really close to see the gold in it. In the bottle the gold is more pronounced. It's a very sparkly red perfect for the holiday season. I did have one issue with it. I wore it for a little over 24 hours on my swatching hand and about 4 days on my right hand and well it doesn't matter how long you wear this one for it will Stain your nails like crazy. I haven't had a red polish attack my nails like this in a while so just be sure to throw on an extra coat or two of base before you wear this one.
Die Another Day is fiery metallic red. Out of all these colors in the holiday collection, this one felt the most like liquid christmas in a bottle to me. It is a simple red yet it's so stunning. I've always loved red nails and you really can't go wrong with this red. It has a nice opaque formula that was super easy to apply. I'll shut up and let the pictures finish the talking on this one.
I expected not to like Moonraker after hearing another blogger say how horrible it is. Well I actually liked it. I did not expect the chrome-like finish that it has. Yes the formula can be streaky but it didn't bother me since you just run one final coat over the top and it sorta smooths out the streaks. It's has really good coverage, 1-2 coats is all you need. I like the metal look and feel this polish gives off. I also did not put a top coat over this one, it dries really quickly. I did put top coat over my index finger and I preferred how it looked without it. So I didn't bother putting it on the other nails. Moonraker, you are Not horrible in my book!
Tomorrow Never Dies is purple! I say that because this color was very hard to photograph, I must have taken a million pictures of it and they all made it look blue.  This purple has very strong blue undertones in it so that's why the camera had a hard time capturing the true color. I did very slight tweaks to a few of these pictures to show off what it looks like in person. In fact that's the first time I've ever done that after almost 2 years of blogging. The formula is great on this one, used 2 coats for this one. I love purple but sadly this purple didn't make me swoon. Also I have a feeling I might already own a few similar purples like this one.
Live and let die was one of my instant loves from this collection. OPI's description of this is Jet Black, I can see that but I see it as a dark forest green. It has golden flecks throughout the polish and the nice thing is that they are visible once on the nail. Sometimes these shimmers don't translate onto the nail, but this one does. It might not be as strong as it is in the bottle but it's there. It's a nice green but like most dark colors like this it just ends up looking black most of the time anyway... Nicely played OPI, i guess I will accept Jet Black.. hah but seriously the base is really greenish! :)
The world is not enough is a very sheer foil finish polish. It requires a few coats, I found three to be a good number. The base is a brownish Taupe, OPI calls it "rosy" it comes off more like a silvery dusty light brown to me. It's a lovely color but I don't think the color suited me very well.
I know a lot of people are raving about this color, while one of the more exciting colors in the collection I just didn't have the love connection with this one as I was hoping to have. First of all I do have to say the Macro shot of this one is really stunning and the fact that this polish looks like that super up close make me have mad respect for it. Blue, pink, purple, yellow gold, oh My! However I don't have my hand up to my eye at all times and in the end the color is just a slivery blue. I love all colors but this color just made me feel frost bitten. I've already got super cool toned skin and this polish brought it out more. I did 3-4 coats on this one to get it opaque. Don't get me wrong it's a pretty amazing polish but the color just didn't grab me as much as I wanted it to. I forgot to share OPI calls this one out as a Misty Green Pewter... I can see the pewter but not so much green , the multi colored flecks do have blue and yellow in it so i can see how it can put off some green but to me this color reads more blue than green.
Golden Eye does not disappoint. In fact I think if you stare at this too long you might come down with a Golden Eye! I seriously need like every shade of a polish with this formula. I don't remember how many coats it took but I know it was a few. You ever get lost in a color when you're applying it? well Golden Eye had me in a Trance! The polish is pretty much made up of many micro foil like pieces that come together to form a bling-tastic super foil on your nail. I'm still finding it hard to believe that this wasn't one of those nail strips! If you buy just one polish from this collection make sure it's this one!
The Living Daylights was one of those polishes where I was sorta Meh about at first. For being the only Glitter in the collection I felt a little let down. That was until I actually wore it. I layered it over Moonraker. I used moonraker under it since it goes nicely with the metallics vibe, plus it has blue undertones in it that tie in the blue glitter nicely. So after I put it on the light bulb clicked on in my head and I went woah this is gorgeous. At first I was thrown off by the blue that was mixed with the metals but I learned to appreciate it. It can also be worn by itself but would require a few more coats. I used two coats in these pictures. It was super shiny so the name , living, daylights, is super fitting!

  1. From what it looks I think I know which will be my favourite one and which will isn't. It's likely to be Moonraker and Golden Eye. Ah, can't wait to get my hands on them. :D

  2. These are the best swatches I've seen of this collection yet! Every color looks gorgeous on your nails and now I have a few more on my wishlist! :)

  3. Thank you! I wanted to make sure I represented these beauties really well!

  4. you're gonna love Golden Eye it's such a stunning color!!

  5. Thank you for such a sweet comment Rebecca, you flatter me. I'm glad my hard work paid off!

  6. wow what a great post!!! thanks so much for sharing :)

  7. I am pretty happy with most in this collection. My fav is You Only Live Twice, Tomorrow Never Dies (esp with the Man With the Golden Gun gold leaf 18kt over it), Casino Royale, & Golden Eye. Surprised myself liking the gold here - typically not big on gold polish - but maybe with the gold foil from Zoya (Ziv), the gold leaf that is popular now & the fact I had recently switched from wearing my white metals most of the time to pull out my yellow and rose golds again, I am feeling more for gold polishes then I have in the past. Love this lenght of nails!!!!

  8. Thank you for your comment, of course! I like to share... even my polish ... sometimes :P

  9. Isn't you only live twice great!! I know golds are popping up everywhere!!! Golden Eye though is a truly amazing gold, I've never been excited to year golds in the past either so I'm happy to see the color get some attention as as a result we've got some pretty amazing new golds to chose from. I still need to pick up Man in the golden gun , I've been hoping i run into it at ulta... I've got quite the points racked up there I was hoping to use them toward that polish. This length is nice but a little longer would be better for nail art reasons :)

  10. I really only feel as though I need You Only Live Twice, Casino Royale, Skyfall, Live and Let Die and The Spy Who Loved me. I think Live and Let Die could be a beautiful, unexpected holiday color!
