My Vegas Nails

So I've shared with you guys my CosmoProf pics but now here's the good stuff... The nails i had while i was in Vegas!! So I planned like 2 weeks in advance what I was going to do and I even tried several different variations of the design and when it came to do it I gotta say I was not in love with it so what did I do? I panicked and my poor husband was "trying" to help me figure out my next move (fyi he was not helpful). Okay Maybe I should have not waited just a few hours before having to go to the airport (My flight was at 6am!!) to do my nails but thats how it happened. So with less than an hour left and being up all night packing I decided to do swirls, I've done a similar design before a long time ago and really loved it so i decided okay it will be perfect, what i didn't really think about was the fact that I had to do my right hand and people were actually going to see it!!  These were the factors in play: 1. very hard 2. extremely hard 3. I was short on time so there was no do overs and 4. if i screwed up i'd be walking around CosmoProf with crappy nails.  Well I pushed through and while I gotta say I wasn't too thrilled with my nails, once I got some sleep I woke up and I realized they weren't as bad as I thought they were. I used my favorite black of the moment, Wet n Wild's Ebony hates Chris, and a Spectraflair top coat. I painted each nail black and then every other nail I put the Spectraflair on it and then took my nail art brush and either painted black over the Spectraflair or the Spectraflair on the black and it took a while but it turned out nice. After 2 days I put a coat of Misa's Candy Girl and it really transformed the manicure for me, doesn't really show that well in the pics but believe me it make it all come together.

So here's the pics and at the bottom I'll share with you guys my "failed" original mani that I decided against.

Blurry Holo Yum!
My Left hand, I took this pic after I slathered on lotion so the nails look a mess(Sorry)
My Poor Right hand, hah not bad for 4am in the morning and after a long day of packing

Here it is in the sun and with a top coat of Misa's Candy Girl
Sorta in the shade here, you can really see Candy Girl here

So I had other polishes with me in case of an emergency but luckily I didn't have to mess with changing my polish. This is what it looked like after 10 almost 11 days of wear. I'm still surprised that there was minimal tip wear and I even used Seche Vite! Oh and you can totally see my nail growth in this pic if you compare it to the 1st or 2nd pic in this post.
My Failed original idea, just didn't turn out like I wanted it too

Nfu-oh 34 was the base, Sally Hansen's White on and then Hard Candy's Break Up (which I went and bought just for this manicure!!)

  3. Thanks! I love it when a small change makes a difference for the better, plus it helps when your manicure starts to go stale on you! yes i've been pretty lucky that they grow pretty well, except sometimes i get lazy when it comes to trimming them down and i look at them and go woah, what the heck happened!

  5. yah on an official fail scale they're not bad but i was going for soft and delicate and i went too heavy with the base coat and it sorta fell apart from there. I already did a practice run on a few nails and it looked AMAZING and this just didn't look the same and i needed a good wow factor for Vegas and i wasn't feeling it so i wiped it off and went in a different direction. But you are so right Glitter does make everything better!

  7. I love both mani's. Maybe a little more glitter on the second one.  It kinda reminds me of some sort of mermaid like. I need to get that glitter polish that is if I can find it. :)

  16. i know i really liked the idea i had for the 2nd one too, but i was tried and i got a little heavy handed and i ended up with too much polish on the nails which made them look fat, hah does this polish make my nails look fat?!!!

  23. You definitely showed up in Vegas style! I like both looks! But oh - so wish you could cut your nails shorter. They look so much better shorter I think.

  25. I liked your 'failed' attempt too. Are you going to try it again to see if you can achieve the look you were going for?

I REALLY like your Beetlejuice/Nightmare Before Christmas-like swirls on your holo nails. It's such a simple idea but it is SO cool and pretty!!
I might have to do a version of it every week or so in October, up until Halloween! I probably can't wait that long to try your idea.
    Thanks!

  26. i should try to redo it! I'll add it to the list, which means one day i'll get to it. I love your references about the beetlejuice /nightmare before christmas. This would made for a good halloween mani if there was a touch of orange in it! If you do do it, i'd love to see!

  27. Is the silver holo in the swirl mani, Nfu-Oh also? (What black did you use? Did you use a paintbrush/nail brush?)

  28. the black is ebony hates chris from wet and wild and the silver is a Spectraflair top coat, i used a nail art brush
