Hateful Comments: They happen!

First of all I promise to get a post with some nail polish up soon but this was something i've always wanted to address but never had the energy to really do. With the new wave of followers I think it's a good time to nip this in the butt.

There will always be people out there who get pleasure out of putting others down. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions but there is always a time and a place for those opinions. There used to be a saying if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything, but seems like that's something that just doesn't apply anymore. The internet is just full of people who feel like they can bash others safely from the comforts of their home without any repercussions. Just because you can hide behind your screen and you don't see the hurt and pain you've caused someone doesn't make these hurtful opinions justified.

Now I feel that i'm pretty lucky to have such amazing followers who are truly sweet and supportive and i honestly love the feedback I get. I read each comment and it means a lot to me that you guys take the time to read my posts and leave me comments. Honestly it's the comments you guys leave that make the whole blogging experience worthwhile. It just makes me sick to my stomach that  people are bullying others the way they are. Now I haven't seen a lot of abuse here in fact I'll share all the hateful comments i've gotten with you guys. But I'm hoping maybe some of you will think twice before you purposefully say mean and hurtful things to each other because you never know what a person has been through and you don't know where that abuse might push them.

So I used to filter each comment but with the contest up I removed that so your comments would post right away so you can see each other's guesses and well honestly it's been a while since anyone had anything nasty to say. Plus I really don't like having to babysit comments. So the day after I lower my guard so to speak I got a pretty little comment that just had hate all over it.

I've removed these off my site but since I have nothing to hide I want to lay all the nasty ones out for everyone to see....

  • Just have to say your nails are the ugliest on purpose manicure I've ever seen. Does a 5 year old do your acrylics or do your nails grow wonky like that? Don't be so damn cheap, go get your nails done if you are going to tout yourself as a professional nail blogger! I can't stand to look at your disgusting nails for another second. Maybe you can con some nail salon into doing your nails for free ad space or sponsorship.
  • Your nails make me want to wretch. Ugh.....
  • I'm sorry but your nails are really awful! they are in no way beautiful :( they reminds me horror films! look at the other girls, they have quite long but not so long nails and it really looks nice and attractive. I don't want to distress you, it's just my opinion.
  • The polish is gorgeous but your nails are hideous really, they might look lovely even a tiny bit shorter. You should at least cut them down to the point where that awful bend is gone. And the shape is atrocious.
  • Cut your damn nails jesus christ.
  • Please please please cut your nails. The way your index finger nail curves differently from the rest is somewhat creepy. You're such a pretty girl but your nails take away from your beauty. Don't you want people to look at your beautiful face and not your overly long nails??
I don't want to sound like i'm over here crying , I'm not I just want to address that these type of comments are completely unnecessary and just downright rude. Also they don't phase me anymore I'm at a point in my life where I stopped trying to please everyone and the main person I make sure is happy is me. When I got into nail polish 9 months ago my nails weren't long. I didn't think oh i want really long nails, they just sorta started to grow. Since I was wearing nail polish they weren't breaking so they got long and I liked the way they looked so therefore I have long nails. It really is that simple.
If some of you haven't noticed already my index fingers bend down on both hands and well that's just they way they grow, They're clawed nails even if cut my nails it will always have than bend. That's how I was made and I can't change it. I never said I have perfect nails. (but I'd like to think i do!)
These are my real natural nails and because of that they're not going to look super perfect all the time. From time to time I have a break or nail injury and I patch it up and while I try to take the best pictures these imperfections do make their ways into the pictures. I don't consider myself a professional blogger and I honestly don't feel that I've been "Touting" around as one, this is just my hobby. I don't know why they way I chose to do my nails would provoke someone to feel obligated to tell me how much they don't like them. Now if there is someone out there who feels this strong urge to tell me how my nails ruined their life please feel free to do so by sending me an e-mail. I don't want to go back to having to filter comments so if a few slide through I will remove them because I don't think it's fair to others to have to read negative comments because it kills the fun so to speak. As always I didn't mean for this to get so long but I can't help it I love to type : )

I enjoy my nails they make me happy and if you really don't like them, then tough go worry about your own nails!

  1. What jerks. I mean, really... If someone doesn't like something about another person's appearance, fine. We all have or own sense of what we find appealing/attractive. But there is such a thing as tact and landing a little more softly on another human being's feelings.

    I am sorry that small minded, mean spirited people say such things to you. You certainly don't deserve it.

    And for the record, I think your nails are amazing. Are such long nails for me? Nope. They would be totally impractical for my lifestyle and I couldn't grow my poor, delicate nails that long on a bet, even if I wanted to. lol But I sure admire the beauty of very long, beautifully kept and polished nails on others. :)

  2. Wow, I can't believe it. No....I can. I have seen some pretty rude people in the polish world. The only time I say a mani is awful (in a funny way) is when someone posts a nail fail and is sharing the hilarity of botched nail art. But wow...I'd like to clout those people lol.

    I think your nails are just freaking fine! I only wish I could grow my papery thin nails at all. If they don't want to look at them, they should go somewhere else. I started a facebook group about nail polish and that is one of my two rules lol...if you don't like it, don't read it.

    Wish you the best in your blogging and nail journey!

  3. Wow I've never seen such ugliness before I've only heard, such hate is so horrible but i guess there is always some people like that I've been lucky all the nail bloggers I've interacted with are such sweetie pies! like you! And I agree with you it's all about what you like and no one else, but I think your nails are beautiful and an acomplishment to be proud of.

  4. Ugh. I commented directly after one of those comments and wanted to b*!?#-slap whoever had written it. I totally agree with Ice Queen about the tact thing. I think that you can not like something about someone, but if it's not hurting you or anyone else then just STFU and keep your comments to yourself.

    You keep on being you, girl, and don't let anyone change what you think of yourself, and like I said in my contest comment "haters gonna hate" :) x

  5. Wow... these are really rude comments. It's great that you address this problem in a special post. I never thought about why people filter their comments (because I don't...), but now I see why.

    I completely agree: Why read someones blog if you don't like it just the way it is? And if you don't like it and don't plan to follow, why write these things... But I guess that's what it has come down to recently (not just the internet). People just need to hurt others by pointing out some assumed flaws...

    I like they way your nails look. In fact, I wish my nails would even get as long as yours!

  6. screw the haters...they can happily move on to another website if they don't enjoy what you post. People say such awful and hurtful things on the internet when they think they are anonymous. I'm sorry that people feel the need to say nonsense like that to you, don't take it too much to heart. As long as you are happy with what your nails and your blog that's all the matters.

  7. Sounds like the same person over and over. Jealousy is never pretty at any age. You probably have more followers than they do...something childish.

  8. How Rude!!! personally I for one love how you do your nails eff what those girls think they are either jealous or mad cause their nails won't grow Keep up the great work Katherine <3

  9. I just want to say that you rock. I don't know why anyone would even bother to say mean things but obviously some people are just rude. Your nails are lovely and you're awesome for showing these people that you don't care what they think. They're the ones reading your blog, if they don't like it they can just close the page. Your blog is one of my favorites and I'm glad you're not letting these internet bullys get their way. Thanks for letting us know what's going on :D

  10. they are some truly hateful comments, one can only wonder if its jealously fueling those? I'm ashamed for the people that have done that and majorly annoyed for you!

    shel xx

  11. If they don't like your nails, they should just not look, no one is making them, and the rude comments are totally uncalled for. I hate that there are people out there who would intentionally be nasty and try to upset someone they have never even met! I love your blog please keep on doing it and keep painting those lovely long nails and don't be put off by some small minded ignorant kiddies with nothing better to do.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I think it's very sad that people can spread such horrible negative feelings :( Usually these things stem from jealousy, I think your nails are unique and awesome!

    Of course everyone is going to have a personal preference on how long/what shape/what colours they use on their nails, but I just don't understand why you would ever push your personal views on someone else in such a hateful horrible way :( Diversity is the best thing about being human, if all us bloggers had identical nails how boring would that be!!!

    You just have to remember there's a load of people who really appreciate the time and dedication you put into this blog!! So please dont let this small minority bother you at all!!! *hugs*

  13. This is the problem with the internet. People think that just because they are able to state their opinion they should. The fact of the matter is, if someone doesn't like your nails they don't have to look at them. They can move along to another website. They can keep their mean and nasty comments to themselves because there are a lot of us that love your nails and enjoy seeing your manis.

    I love your blog and I enjoy visiting everyday. Haters are going to hate and, unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about that. You do great work here so don't let their ignorant comments get to you.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I agree with everything everyone else is saying. It's really sad to have someone bash you when you are just trying to entertain people by sharing your love of polish. I was really scared to leave comments and blog and stuff, because of people like this. I have seen people just write such mean and hurtful things, and for no apparent reason. I applaud you for being brave and for not letting these negative people get to you.

    Anyway, I also really love your blog, think that your manis are so pretty, and wish I had even half of your creativity. Keep up the good work, and do what makes you happy!

    ReplyDelete
  15. No one is making those people look at your nails. They came to your blog by choice and they can leave the same way.

    I don't think there is a single thing wrong with your nails and I love seeing the swatches. I come here because I'm a fellow polish addict. (I just don't have a blog to share it with everyone).

    Those few negative comments don't mean anything anyway. I bet they are jealous in fact.

    ReplyDelete
  16. your nails are a way of expression, don't let haters change them! their just jealous.

  17. So sad that some people have nothing better to do than try to make themselves feel better by putting others down!! Get a life! Keep doing what you do with your BEAUTIFUL nails! I LOVE your blog!

    ReplyDelete
  18. If the damn haters don't like your nails, then why are they even looking at your blog? It's like watching a movie you don't like and complaining about it when you can just change the channel.

    They could at least get a dictionary and spell correctly. I wonder what goes through their minds on a daily basis. Yeah, a less than objectively perfect fingernail distorts the beauty of the entire person *rolls eyes*

    These comments make me so angry. You know I am always wow-ed by how long your nails are. <3

    ReplyDelete
  19. I bet they are just jealous...I'd kill to have long nails like you :D

  20. Negativity has no purpose but to fulfill the emptiness of the one spewing it. Ignore it and do your best to surround yourself with positive things that make you happy.

  21. Thank you for sharing this post, it takes courage to talk about negative reactions of narrow minded people towards you(r nails). It is a fact that mother nature made each one of us unique and that's a blessing. You do not have to justify anything to anyone. I admire the way you you share your passion for nail polish, and the particular attention you give to grooming your hands.

    For the record you have beautiful nails, and even better they are natural. I follow your post regularly, enjoy reading your posts and look out every time for the new creative nailart you come up with.

    I love long nails, but unfortunately can't grow them beyond a "male" reasonable length for social acceptance reasons :( . I find my happiness by appreciating fellow bloggers like you who do an admirable job at maintaining beautiful long nails creatively polished.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Why can't people just keep their mouths shut? Ugh. I wish I could grow my nails to any length I want!

    ReplyDelete
  23. If you like it, then it's not important what other people think.. Don't you agree? :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. what the hell! arg i seriously want to do something bad to those people after reading that. ehh well i'm really irritable these days.. so violence is probably not the answer...but that is uncalled for!

    i'm sorry that happened to you!!! your nails are awesome!

    My nails will never get that length. lol so pretty. so i live vicariously through other long nailed blogs. hmpph i guess there will always be 'hater' people.

    I had the same experience.. some people where linking my post and talking crap about it.. and i could tell because it shows you who is referring your site.. boo. no fun.

    just keep blogign though. you have lots of ppl who love your blog. <3 <3 don't give up blogging because of stupid people.

  25. I've been reading for some months but don't think I've ever commented.

    Some people are sad and poisoned. Personally, I go by the mantra of 'If you can't say something nice, zip it.'

    We could all ponder for aeons why some people feel it necessary to boost themselves up by being horrible to other people, but instead of doing that, we get on with our lives. Some people don't seem to have a life! Don't let them get you down, and carry on doing what you do x

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'm a recently follower and I'm shocked about what's written down... Why can't people look first at themselves? Don't let yourself down! Your blog is nice, you're nails are nice, so you must be a very nice person!

  27. Makes me sad to think about all the meanness in this world...no reason for it really. My index finger nails curve funny too! Mine aren't as long as yours (I wish they could be, but they break!) I love your blog and read all your posts!

  28. HOLY COW!!! heh i hope i didn't come across as fishing for compliments because you guys sure did leave a lot of them. I'm over here blushing!! I never expected to get such kind and loving responses from all of you!! I Love you guys! These hate comments come from a negative place but in turn by sharing them with you guys they have brought me very supportive and positive vibes! We all have meanness in us and we have the power to release it when we want so looking at the big picture these few negative comments are nothing compared to all the amazing comments you guys leave me all the time! Much love and so thankful for having such amazing followers! : )

  31. I'm late commenting on this post because I've been so busy, so I want to apologize for that. You know what, people just want to have something negative to say. What really gets me is the person that wrote "I don't want to distress you, it's just my opinion." I HATE when someone has something negative to say and they follow it up with something like that. If you didn't want to distress her, why even open your mouth (or type that comment out!)!!! Ridiculous. Just by saying that they know what they said might distress you.
    Good for you on calling them out, and good for you for doing what YOU want to do with YOUR body and for being brave enough to show the rest of us, when there are nasty people like that on the internet! It does take a certain amount of bravery to put yourself out there on the internet, for sure. I'm glad you have the attitude that you like them, and you're going to keep on doing what you're doing. Good for YOU! Bravo. If I were in front of you I'd give you a standing ovation for your response to them.
    I just wrote a book on your comments, my goodness. But anyway - I will never be able to grow my nails that long, so you won't see it on my blog - but I love to look at them! So I enjoy your posts, even if I can't comment as much as I'd like to. <333

  75. It makes me sick to think people go around writing rude comments wherever they feel necessary. My pointer fingernail grows like that too. Isn't that weird. I feel if they don't like it then quit looking. Nobody is forcing them to look at your blog. Which I have to say is an awesome blog. I just love it. I think it's great that you don't care what they think & you called them out. Because for one hater you have at least 20 followers that love what you do. Keep succeding & stay strong & positive.

  76. Some people are just rude!  I'm a newcomer to your blog & I've enjoyed reading your posts.  Your nails are what you want.  We all have our preferences in nail length but I wouldn't comment on someone elses nail length because it's what they prefer/like.

    Oh my index fingernails bend too when they get to a certain length.  You're not alone there! :o)

You are completely right your nails are what you want, no point in trying to change it to please someone because there is no way of changing it so that everyone will like it. hah i learned that a long time ago and what i do with my nails is what i want! i'm just really lucky that i have followers who enjoy seeing that process : ) It's funny how since i wrote this i've discovered a lot of weirdly bent index fingers exist out there! heh take care!

  80. i love reading your blog i might not comment as often as others do but it saddens me that there are people who comments like that.. i think that they should either keep it to themselves so that they wouldn't hurt a person's feeling or they can say it in a nice way..

    ReplyDelete
  81. if the nails don't belong to them, i don't see why they care. maybe they're bored or jealous

    ReplyDelete
  82. I know they were trying to be helpful in their own way, but I agree, there is always a nice way to say something. And if you can't find a nice way to say something, then don't say it!
    My husband says THINK before you say something...
    T = is it true?
    H = is it helpful?
    I = is it important?
    N = is it necessary?
    K = is it kind?
    If you answer yes to all of these, then say it. If you have a "no" (even just one) then you shouldn't say it!
