Sula Kelly & Sula Vermilion Paint and Peel Review

So ever since i've seen this polish at Ulta, I've always been very curious about it but with a price tag of 9 bucks(for .37 fl oz) i always passed it up. Plus the whole paint and peel just seemed too good to be true.

So i picked these two on sale and basically ran home to try them out. They are water based and the smell reminds me of finger painting. Well these were a Huge Fail!! The application was a nightmare, very streaky and lumpy. the bottle says put 2-3 coats on and well i don't think 10 coats would ever make things even. At first i thought well maybe it's just the green but I had the same issues with the orange. The only thing i like about them was the actually colors were really pretty.

When it came to "peeling" the polish off it was not easy at all, I have really strong natural nails and i was afraid it would do damage to them i started to peel but then i just whipped out some remover to get the job done safely. Another issue i had was that for me i don't feel comfortable with only 2-3 coats of polish on my nails, i have to have the whole nine yards, base, 2-3 coats and top coat, because i need all the extra protection i can get for my long nails. The only way i could see this polish working is for someone with very short nails, maybe it wouldn't be so streaky? I dunno, might be perfect for little kids but then again if they can peel it maybe they would eat it , i dunno, don't waste your time and money on this one.

If anyone has had different results with this brand please share!

Sula Kelly

Nothing smooth about this polish!

  1. Hi! I've seen these paint and peel polishes and haven't tried them. I was concerned about them starting to peel off before I was ready. lol

  3. That polish looks really awful. I'm not interested in them at all. I do like the colors but that's it.

  4. Two things: 1. I don't really like the idea of "peeling" polish, I feel like it wouldn't last as long as normal polish. 2. I though your nails were acrylic, but then in the picture with the green peeling I saw that they were real! The length is mind blowing. I have always bitten my nails. Do you put anything on them? Or do you just not bite?

  5. i used to bite them but that was way back when i was younger and i even used to bend my nails back, the idea of doing that again gives me a headache, heh. i've just been really lucky to have natural strong nails, but i always have polish on them. base , 2-3 coats color and top coat. It's my armor. The biggest thing is remembering not to use them like tools, so a sorta think before you leap deal. i still wash dishes and cook and clean, i don't walk around pretending i can't do anything because i'll break a nail. sometimes i ask my hubby to do certain things if i feel it might be a nail hazzard. i tried taking biotin but that only lasted 2 or 3 days. i'm sure it would be helpful just never get around to it. Nails break that's what they do and i currently have one acrylic nail only because i couldn't stand patching the poor guy and he would break all the time. Took longer to fix the nail than a whole manicure. thanks for reading my blog!
